Barcelona
We had a chance to briefly stroll through Barcelona and Madrid on an 8-day trip. This tour was really about the accomplishment of the talented architect Antoni Gaudi. You can find his work all over the city of Barcelona. His famed and light-enchanted Sagrada Familia, the creative and peculiar Casa Mila and Casa Batlló, the naturalistic Park Güell are all must-sees in Barcelona. Perhaps you are not interested in architecture but visit these sites anyways. You will find it is easy to be a connoisseur of Gaudi’s work. His approach using nature and light will make the most ignorant fool gasp at his Ingenuity.

Stroll around Barcelona, you will not only find beaches and harbors that attracts your eyes, but also quaint little streets in the Grà cia neighborhood. As for the beach, you need to go out a little further from the main sites around Barcelona to the La Barceloneta district. The little triangle piece of land is very popular with visitors and locals alike.
Little needs to be said about Spanish food. As for food, I ate paella, lots, and lots of paellas. It was either that or something with seafood.

Madrid
We spent most of our time strolling through the museums, palaces, and churches. Madrid has amazing collections of museums. Museo Nacional del Prado, Museo Reina SofÃa, Museo de Arte Thyssen-Bornemisza just to name a few. The best thing is, many of the key museums are not too far from each other so you can definitely walk between them. Though, between the museums and the walking in-betweens, it can be a very tiring day. Unfortunately, the nearest cafes are not so close. Please plan accordingly; either pack your own food or eat at the museum cafes for an expensive lunch stop. My friend and I both had student IDs so most of the museums are either free or heavily discounted for us. Otherwise, being a European citizen also gives you discounts. Some of the places offer discounts to Latin American citizens on certain days in addition to the evening free entries. Overall, these museums made themselves very accessible to the public. Do be careful, many museums have very long queues for the free-entry times. Some museums require you to grab a timed entry ticket if you decide to use the student discount. Please check before you go.
Madrid also has many places worth strolling through. Especially with the Spanish weather, it’s nice to just get out and go around on foot.
