The lodge in Lukla was much fuller than the one we left. Many just finished their trek as well. At this lodge, we met some very interesting people including a group of Iranians who sang and danced through the night, a group of students who came to challenge themselves, and a couple who lived all over the world. Everyone was in jubilation. The drinking and the celebration went well into the night. Trying to catch a flight the next day, my group left the party early to catch some much-needed sleep.
It seemed that the Himalayas did not want us to leave just yet. The weather goddess who had been so generous to us decided that the day was not right for us to fly out. Slightly disappointed, we decided to do some drinking to pass our time there before taking on a 6:45am flight back to Lukla the next day.

Start of a very busy morning in Lukla airport. Due to the bad weather the day before, pilots will try to make as many trips as possible in the short 4-hour window in the morning before weather potentially turns grim again.

View of Kathmandu from the plane. You can see the famous Boudhanath Stupa which we visited shortly before we started the trek.
