No EBC trekking trip can be completed without getting a more close up and personal view of the Chomolangma herself. After a long day, we were set to get up at 4am to hike up to a nearby hilltop called Kala Patthar (literally means “black rock”) to get a sunrise view.

It was cold and early, but the reward was the once in a lifetime view of the sunrise over the Everest.

The team picture of us shivering together, waiting for the sun to rise up for some warmth.

Individual shots with Everest and Pumori as background. It was the avalanche on Pumori in 2015 that buried the Everest Base Camp during the Nepal earthquake.
After an hour of rest, the team marched back down to Dingboche for me and another team member to get ready for our finale of the trip: summit attempt of the Island Peak.
